Project Summary:
Livelihoods India is the flagship national level initiative to bring together diverse stakeholders to discuss and deliberate on critical issues that impede the livelihoods of those living in poverty, and build a strategy and vision for moving them from subsistence to sustainable levels. Now in its 17th year, the multi stakeholder platform has continued to engage stakeholders from the government, multilateral and bilateral organisations, civil societies, international organisations, private sector and their CSRs, academia and sector experts to scan the development ecosystem, support policy making and, integrate and sustain the most excluded/underprivileged communities, including women and youth, within mainstream economic milieu. The initiative comprises a set of specific sub-initiatives that have been designed to make it an effective bridge for knowledge sharing, cross-learning and policy dialogue.
Sub-initiatives: Livelihoods India Summit, FPO Impact Awards, Case Study Competition, Development Catalysts
Position Summary:
The position will be responsible for implementing the various sub-initiatives of the Livelihoods India platform – Annual Summit, Publications, Livelihoods India Case Study Competition, FPO Impact Awards, Quarterly Newsletters, Policy Briefs, Op-Eds, Roundtables, Webinars and so on under the leadership of the Vice President, Livelihoods India. The person will be responsible for building on the existing Livelihoods India brand equity and networking with diverse stakeholders and platform partners.
ACCESS is looking for a dynamic and experienced person with an overall awareness of the livelihoods sector (both farm and non-farm), familiar with livelihoods policies and programmes in India, understanding of FPOs and inter-connected ecosystems and strong communication, research, writing and networking skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Resource Generation
- Develop, present and follow-up on partnership proposals for various Livelihoods India Sub-initiatives
- Manage relationships with existing partners
- Identify, research and reach out to potential new partners relevant to Livelihoods India
- Contribute in developing the business strategy for the platform through development of annual plans
2. Program Coordination and Delivery
- Support designing of the Livelihoods India Summit in coordination with different partners and identifying and inviting appropriate speakers
- Manage the sub-initiatives- FPO Impact Awards, Newsletters, Webinars and Livelihoods India Case Study Competition including soliciting and review of nominations, scoring of the entries, preparation for technical evaluation committees and the Grand Jury, preparation of publications such as the compendium, Awards brochure etc.
- Supporting authors of the State of India’s Livelihoods Report, op-eds and policy papers in data collection and compilation as required
- Designing and rolling out regional and national events such as thematic conferences as part of the Livelihoods India platform
- Implement strategies for improving delivery of all sub-initiatives through better management aids, use of technology and other means
- Coordinate on operations and logistics with the programme support team
3. Communication
- Develop and coordinate for implementing communication strategy including PR strategy and social media presence for promoting Livelihoods India initiative and its publications and other outputs across media
- Ensure effective dissemination of knowledge products of through blogs, posts, op-eds, policy papers on social media handles
- Develop strategies for enhancing organisational brand equity and thought leadership in the sector
4. Review and Programme Reporting
- Prepare specific reports for all relevant stakeholders and partners associated with the Livelihoods India platform including for its sub-initiatives.
Education & Experience::
- Postgraduate degree in Development Studies, Rural Management, Public Policy, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in organising large-scale events, conferences, and multi-stakeholder platforms.
- Experience in proposal development, donor engagement, and partnership management.
- Strong understanding of India’s livelihoods ecosystem.
- Prior experience in research, publication management, and policy engagement will be preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong networking, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent organisational abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight timelines.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools, social media management, and webinar platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
Travel Requirement:
Willingness to travel as and when required.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is commensurate to industry standards and will be determined based upon experience set of the candidate and the HR policies of the organization.
